Assistance with Fuel Costs

The objective of this program is to provide funds to maintain heat in households during the colder months. As of November 9, 2023, SECA can assist eligible residents with propane or #2 heating oil. We may be able to provide kerosene at some point and will post the update here if we are able to find a partner for kerosene.

The following describes the fuel program as of November 9, 2023:

1. Must be Spotsylvania County resident. Property must be the residence of the Client (owned or rented).
2. Please arrive at SECA between 9:30 am and noon if you need assistance purchasing fuel.
3. Assistance for fuel is available monthly November thru March. Client household must not have received fuel assistance in the past 30 days or financial assistance in the last 6 months.
4. Assistance may be provided for propane or #2 heating oil from sources designated by SECA.
5. Must visit SECA, present I.D., and complete an Assistance Request form.
6. Limits are 100 lbs of propane or a voucher subsidy for heating oil.
7. Vouchers are given for fuel. These may require pickup at a specific location and may have a “same day” expiration.
8. Assistance is provided “per household.”
9. Eligible clients may receive assistance with more than one service in the same visit.
